Hi there!

I'm Hubert.
I'm programming for web and mobile.
You'd like me to work for you.
Here's why.
Hubert Orlik–Grzesik
Why me?
A few key points on why I'm good for this job.
Fast learner
And I mean fast. I got one musical instrument as a gift recently, and in a few hours I was playing music for the family. I've got the same ability when it comes to coding in a new technology.

PS. I code better than I play.
Highly motivated
I cannot stand using badly designed things and thinking how better my life would be if someone did it with a little more care. So I've got an urge to be productive in order to do as many things as possible the right way.
Attention to details
I should list this as my weakness, seriously. Sometimes you'll need to hit me with a deadline so that I stop comparing 30 versions of a horizontal line.
Passionate
Programming is my passion. I love what I'm doing and I'm constantly looking for new challenges and ways to improve.
Things I'm good at
And stories that prove the point.
User experience
I once did a card game for iPad. I needed to be able to highlight touched cards. The problem was that they were already white. Darkening them before didn't look well. So I experimented. And there it was: did you know that adding a small amount of blue makes the white area appear lighter?
Algorithms
Many years ago I participated in a programming workshop for high school students at Warsaw University. I chose to write a 3D skeletonization module. After making a first draft I went to talk to the professor about possible optimizations. Well, to my astonishment it turned out that my draft was five times faster than what people at University wrote and used.
Problem solving
Nobody likes debugging, right? But someone has to do this.
A large website I worked on had a share feature, but the Facebook posts were empty. After a few hours I've traced a bug in payment module that caused very funny chain of events leading to this behavior. Fun time. Don't ask.
Adapting
One of project I participated in recently was made with a framework I haven't even heard about before. I was confidently adding features in the very first day. After less than two weeks I've extended the framework itself.

Told you I'm a fast learner.

Portfolio
Some of the things I did.
CloseHero
CloseHero
My biggest work so far: fully customizable platform for sales of customizable products. Users can define their own logic via advanced spreadsheet–like formulas.

Solar Panels
Solar Panels
Design application for industrial sized solar systems. Made because no tool on the market could accomodate over 10K panels. UI optimized with OpenGL, advanced placement analysis algorithms.

Toolaxy
Toolaxy
A result of an one day and two people hackathon: fully usable collaboration platform with chat, whiteboard, to-do list and simultaneous text edition.

Meteor packages
Meteor packages
Several reusable packages for Meteor.js applications (one quite popular), gathered in a handy website.

2ndLine.tv
2ndLine.tv
A large Meteor.js project I've been a part of for a year. Live video streaming, rich social features, payments, experimental UI.

Vinyl
Vinyl
Dissatisfied with recent music applications I've decided to make my own.

Starsong
Starsong
Another hackathon product: online collaborative DAW (Digital Audio Workstation – platform for MIDI and sound edition).

Impact
Impact
Modular CMS / website building platform I've initiated. Project is currently developing very slowly as all team members have higher priorities. My blog is an example of realisation.

Handwriting list
Handwriting list
One of the best things I did. With very natural handwriting component done in OpenGL ES. Also, iOS 7 design was pretty much ripped off this app.

iTunes

Zołza
Zołza
Real–time online card game. Interface done in Raphael.js. A proof of concept app I did while learning Meteor.

Paint Chat
Paint Chat
I really like handwriting engines. This one was made for a customer in WebGL.

Antipaper Notes
Antipaper Notes
My first handwriting application for Android. It had over 500.000 downloads in its peak. To overcome Android limitations of that time I had to create my own licensing store.

Set trainer
Set trainer
An app I did for my own fun, not published due to copyright concerns. Works better than a physical card game.

US Quiz
US Quiz
An app I did for client some time ago. Simple thing, but I like how the UX turned out.

SketchApp
SketchApp
Set of image processing applications I've developed as a part of a start-up. Quite heavy in the algorithmic side, with parts being made in plain C for optimization.

Expectations
Things I need to be happy and productive.
Great people
For me work is a part of life – an important part. So I'd like to spend that part with people that will make that time interesting.
Interesting problems
I've spent years shaping my brain and I'd like to put it to a good use. I'm able to take a breath and spend a few days making buttons when it's necessary, but if I don't get an enigma to crack for a prolonged time I grow restless.
Remote work
I'm happy where I live and for now I'd like to stay here. Company retreats, conferences and other ocsasional meetings are welcome.
Flexible time
Of course this doesn't mean a lack of schedule, but rather that the schedule is dictated by what is good for body and mind to be productive.
